Sex - Pregnancy

Basics

Pregnancy can occur during Vaginal or Climax sex unless disabled in the Sex Settings menu under Pregnancy Settings.

You are alerted of the possibility of pregnancy with a notification which is enabled by default in Sex Settings in Notifications Settings. This notification can also be disabled in the Sex Settings menu under Notifications Settings.

Pregnancy is not immediately seen if successful. You can either wait or take a Pregnancy Test. Pregnancy Discovery if left unchecked will happen 24 Sim-hours later. Usage of external mods to verify the pregnancy state might show incorrect information.

The modes available for pregnancy are Disabled, Simple, and Menstrual Cycle. They can be found in Sex Settings under Pregnancy Settings.

Disabling pregnancy from sex will prevent Sims from becoming pregnant from WickedWhims sex.

Simple Mode allows the user to set the percent chance at which the player Sims and NPC Sims may become pregnant from WickedWhims sex. For pregnancy to occur between player Sims and NPC Sims, both pregnancy chance settings have to be set to a value higher than 0%.

The Menstrual Cycle mode uses a realistic period, PMS, and fertility in which the user may use to get the player Sims or NPC Sims pregnant.

Fertility Chances

Depending on the Pregnancy Mode, selected in the Sex Settings menu under the Pregnancy Settings menu, the results will vary.

Simple Mode

Simple Mode, which is set in the Pregnancy Setting under the Sex Setting menu, lets you set the percent chance at which either your playable Sim or NPC Sim can become pregnant.

Using this Simple Mode removes menstrual cycles and fluctuating fertility.

For pregnancy to occur between a playable Sim and NPC Sim on Simple mode, found in the Pregnancy Settings under the Sex Settings menu, both values must be set above 0%.

The values for Simple mode can be set in the Pregnancy Setting under the Sex Settings.

Menstrual Cycle Mode

Menstrual Cycle Mode is set in the Pregnancy Settings under the Sex Settings menu.

The menstrual cycle is the regular natural change that occurs in the female reproductive system (specifically the uterus and ovaries) that makes pregnancy possible. The cycle is required for the production of oocytes, and the preparation of the uterus for pregnancy. The menstrual cycle occurs due to the rise and fall of hormones. This cycle results in the thickening of the lining of the uterus, and the growth of an egg, (which is required for pregnancy). The egg is released from an ovary around day fourteen in the cycle; the thickened lining of the uterus provides nutrients to an embryo after implantation. If pregnancy does not occur, the lining is released in what is known as menstruation.

When this mode is enabled, found in the Sex Settings under the Pregnancy Setting menu, each Sim who can get pregnant has their unique cycle including PMS days, period days, and fertile days.

PMS days will generally occur before the Sim’s period, however there is a chance for this to be skipped.

Period days occur during the first few days of the Sim’s cycle, which they also can be skipped.

Fertility days occur towards the end of the period days and right after the period. Fertility tests can be done throughout the Sims cycle to keep track of how long their cycle is and when they become fertile. This can be done for the price of 10 Simoleons after clicking on the toilet with the Sim in question.

Sims with the Fertile Reward Store trait receive a 20% boost to their base fertility and chances of conceiving. They may also use the phone to make an appointment for a Fertility Treatment service at which your Sim will immediately walk off their home lot for a bit. The effect of the treatment is temporary and boosts fertility by 225% and will decay over the next 72 Sim-hours. At which point the boost and the treatment will end. Treatments do not guarantee pregnancy as they only help boost the chances. You will still need to watch your Sims fertility throughout the fertile days if trying to conceive with the treatment option. In turn, they may also visit a spa or a gym that has a massage table and get a Fertility Massage which provides a small boost of 20% much like the Fertile Store Reward trait for the duration of the 12 Sim-hours massage moodlet, but without the added boost for twins and triplets.

Sims that can impregnate, which is generally males, have their fertility as well, though less varying. There are three levels of fertility that can be set in the Pregnancy Settings menu, under Sex Settings. Realistic, Boosted, and Extreme, and all three affect both sides of fertility. With the impregnating Sim on Realistic Mode, Young Adults have a 91%, Adults 85%, and Elders 75% chance. On Boosted Mode, which is the default mode, Young Adults have a 96%, Adults 90%, and Elders 80% chance. And finally, on Extreme Mode all is set to a 100% chance.

Birth Control

Condoms and Birth Control Pills can be purchased through the WickedWhims menu on any computer. The items you purchase will arrive to your Sim’s home mailbox. Depending on what day and time you order them they will come with the rest of the mail. Your Sim will need to retrieve them from the mailbox and open them in their inventory.

Using these items from your Sim inventory can help prevent pregnancy.

Birth Control Auto-Use is enabled by default but can be changed in the Pregnancy Settings menu. You can also disable Condoms and Birth Control Pills auto-use for a specific Sim by clicking on the item in that Sim's inventory.

Birth Control Pills and Condoms need to be placed in the appropriate inventory for correct auto-use. Birth Control Pills should be put in those Sims inventories who have menstrual cycles. Condoms can be put in anyone’s inventory for use when needed.

Both forms of birth control by default are not perfect and have a chance to fail. This can be set in the Sex Settings menu under the Pregnancy Settings menu.

With Realistic Mode set in the Sex Settings under the Pregnancy Settings menu, Condoms have a base 5% chance to fail, while Birth Control Pills have a 9% chance to fail. Birth Control Pills have a gradual gain and loss effect, and must be taken at least 3 days in a row to get the full effect. Sims fully on Birth Control Pills no longer have to worry about pads or tampons during their period as well.

With Perfect Mode set in the Sex Settings under the Pregnancy Settings menu, all forms of birth control cannot fail.

Sims with the Clumsy or Lazy trait are more likely to impregnate and be impregnated. As with these traits, they will forget to use Condoms, take Birth Control Pills and are bad at pulling out.
